NGC 2558 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 220 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2553 , NGC 2556 , NGC 2560 , NGC 2569 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 13, 1787 .
