NGC 2550 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb / P in the constellation Giraffe in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 107 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light-years across.
The galaxies NGC 2544 and NGC 2551 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 7, 1885 .
