Arp 233 = UGC 5720 is an irregular galaxy in the constellation Great Bear , which is around 67 million light years from the Milky Way . This galaxy is also known as Blue compact dwarf galaxies , which are small compact galaxies that contain large young star clusters with hot, massive stars.
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class galaxies showing signs of splitting .
