Friedrich Eduard Alexander Ferdinand von Knorr (born April 18, 1807 in Habelschwerdt , † April 4, 1863 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Friedrich was a son of the Prussian major Andreas von Knorr († 1826) and his wife Charlotte, nee Wentzel.

Military career

Knorr visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . He was then transferred to the 23rd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on April 8, 1824 as a Second Lieutenant . From 1827 to 1829 he worked as a battalion adjutant, rose to prime lieutenant at the beginning of September 9, 1837 and was commanded from the end of February 1839 to the end of February 1843 as a company commander to the 2nd battalion in the 22nd Landwehr Regiment in Ratibor . This was followed by a command as a leader of the 6th Combined Reserve Battalion until October 1844. While being promoted to captain , Knorr was appointed company commander in his main regiment on September 28, 1844 . From the end of November 1850 he was a company commander to III. Battalion in the 23rd Landwehr Regiment in Opole and on February 9, 1851 as leader of the 6th combined reserve battalion. In this capacity, Knorr was promoted to major on September 11, 1851 and appointed commander of this battalion on December 20, 1851. On April 14, 1853 he was transferred as commander of the 1st battalion in the 23rd Landwehr Regiment in Neisse and on October 15, 1856 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . From February 20, 1858 to March 11, 1859, Knorr was the commander of the 23rd Infantry Regiment, then was initially commissioned with the command of the 2nd Infantry Regiment under position à la suite and on May 31, 1859 as a Colonel as its commander Appointed regiment. On May 8, 1860, he was commissioned to lead the 1st Combined Infantry Regiment, from which the 5th East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 41 emerged on July 1, 1860 . Knorr married on March 24, 1859 in Neisse Olga Elfriede Hulda Cäcilie von Hedemann (1841–1923), daughter of the chief forester Karl von Hedemann.
