NGC 2649 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Lynx in the northern sky . It is an estimated 188 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 5, 1788 .
