Wolfgang Lindner (2013)

Wolfgang Lindner (born October 3, 1943 in Mittenwald , Bavaria ) is an Austrian chemist . Since 2012 he has been professor emeritus for analytical chemistry at the University of Vienna .

Life

Wolfgang Lindner studied chemistry between 1962 and 1972 at the University of Vienna and the Karl-Franzens University in Graz . In 1972 he received his doctorate from the University of Graz , where his field of work was organic chemistry . The topic of his dissertation was the gas chromatographic analysis of components of tobacco smoke. Since 1972 Lindner has worked as an assistant professor in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Graz and was appointed professor there in 1982. During this time there were various visits to industrial and academic laboratories. From 1973 to 1975, Lindner worked in the group of RW Frei ( Sandoz AG , Basel) and carried out research as a postdoc at Northeastern University with Barry Karger in Boston (USA) in 1978/1979 , before studying pharmaceutical chemistry in January 1982 qualified as a professor at the University of Graz . 1986/1987 Lindner was a visiting scientist at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Bethesda , Maryland (USA).

From 1996 to 2012 Lindner worked as professor and successor to JFK Huber at the University of Vienna.

Research areas

His research focuses on (enantioselective) separation techniques and the materials required for them, such as B.

Lindner has particular expertise in enantiomer analysis in the broadest sense.

Publications and patents

Wolfgang Lindner's research has resulted in around 450 publications in specialist journals, 12 book chapters and 15 patents. The Hirsch Index of 49 is an indicator of its significant scientific influence.
