Mariusz Skoneczny (born February 27, 1990 ) is a Polish pool player .

Career

Mariusz Skoneczny won eight medals at the Polish Youth Championships. In June 2008 he won the bronze medal in the 14/1 endless of the juniors at the European Youth Championship. A few days later he made it into the finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time at the Austrian Open . In the second round, however, he lost to his compatriot Radosław Babica 8: 9. After reaching the sixteenth finals at the Netherlands Open 2008 and Italy Open 2009 , he also finished seventeenth at the 2009 Qatar World Open. He also reached the round of 16 of the Netherlands Open and the Portugal Open in 2009 and was eliminated in the preliminary round of the 10-ball World Cup . At the 9-ball World Cup 2010 Skoneczny reached the sixteenth-finals and was eliminated there against the Serbian Šandor Tot . At the 2011 European Championships he reached the quarterfinals in 9-ball , but was defeated there by the later European champion Nick van den Berg , and in 10-ball the second round. In June 2011 he was eliminated in the sixteenth finals of the 9-Ball World Cup against the German Ralf Souquet . At the German Open 2011 Skoneczny achieved his greatest success so far on the Euro Tour by reaching the quarter-finals. In 2012 he was eliminated in the round of 16. At the 2014 European Championship , Skonezny reached the round of 16 in 14/1 endlessly and won an European Championship medal for the first time with bronze in 9-ball after he was eliminated in the semifinals against the eventual European champion van den Berg.

In 2010, Mariusz Skoneczny and Radosław Babica formed the Polish team that reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup of Pool . In the same year, Skoneczny was also part of the Polish team that reached the quarter-finals at the Team World Cup . With the Polish team, Skoneczny was also European champion in 2010 and third in 2009 .

His older brother Adam Skoneczny is also a pool player.
