The Spanish Snooker Championship is a tournament to determine the Spanish champion in the snooker version of billiards and is organized by the Spanish pool association Real Federación Española de Billar (RFEB).

history

The tournament was first played in December 2018 in Valencia with 16 participants. There were eight games in the first round, after which the winners went into a winner's round and the losers into a loser's round . The winners of the players in the Winner's Round were then qualified directly for the quarter-finals, while the losers in a second Loser's Round met the winners of the first Loser's Round and the winners of the former also made it to the quarter-finals. From this point on, the normal knockout system was used , with the game being played in the best of 3 frames mode and quarter and semi-finals in the best of 7 frames mode up to the quarter-finals . The final between Francisco Sánchez Ruíz and Aleix Melia finally went over a maximum of nine frames, of which Ruíz only needed seven to win the title.

The next year the tournament took place in Madrid . Again Sánchez Ruíz reached the final, in which he was able to defend the title with a 4-3 win over David Alcaide .
