Chang Jung-Lin (born May 2, 1985 ) is a Taiwanese pool player . He became 8-ball world champion in 2012 and won the silver medal at the 2013 World Games .

Career

In 2000 and 2003, Chang Jung-Lin was junior vice world champion .

In 2005 he reached the round of 16 at the 9-Ball World Cup . In 2006 he was eliminated in the round of 64, in 2007 after a 9-10 defeat by Corey Deuel in the round of 32. At the 10-Ball World Cup in 2008 he lost 8: 9 in the round of sixteen against American Charlie Williams . In 2007 and 2008, Chang won a total of six Guinness 9-Ball Tour tournaments , including the 2007 season finale.

In 2010 he was eliminated in the round of 64 of the 9-ball World Cup against the Philippine Jeffrey De Luna . At the China Open he reached the quarterfinals. At the 8-Ball World Cup in 2011 he lost to David Alcaide in the round of 16 . He also won the Beijing Open and finished seventeenth at the China Open. In the sixteenth finals of the 9-Ball World Cup , he lost to Shane van Boening . At the World Pool Masters and the All Japan Championship he reached the quarterfinals in 2011.

In February 2012, after victories against Carlo Biado , Oliver Ortmann and Chris Melling, he made it into the final of the 8-Ball World Cup , in which he defeated his compatriot Fu Che-wei 11: 6 and thus became world champion. At the 9-Ball World Cup and the China Open, he lost in the round of 32. At the US Open he was seventh. After the US Open he was world number one and stayed that way until June 2013. In November 2012, he won the All Japan Championship in the final against Yang Ching-shun . After he reached the round of 16 at the China Open 2013, he lost at the World Games 2013 in the final against Englishman Darren Appleton with 10:11 and won the silver medal. At the 9-Ball World Cup he lost in the round of 64 to Chris Melling, in the semi-finals of the World Pool Masters he lost again to Appleton. At the Japan Open 2013 he reached the finals and lost to Ko Pin-yi with 10:11.

In June 2014 he reached the semi-finals China Open and lost 4:11 against Chang Yu-Lung , the eventual winner of the tournament. At the 9-Ball World Cup , he was eliminated in the round of 64 against Shane van Boening. In February 2015, Chang moved into the round of 32 at the 10-Ball World Championship and lost 8:11 to David Alcaide. At the 9-ball World Cup , he was eliminated in the preliminary round.

In March 2016 he reached the second round of the Chinese 8-Ball World Championship . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2016 , he made it to the round of 32, in which he lost 7:11 to the Ukrainian Artem Koshovyi . At the US Open 2016 he moved into the final after defeating Shane van Boening, Naoyuki Ōi , Jeremy Jones and Jayson Shaw , among others . In the final, however, he had to admit defeat van Boening 9:13. A few days later he also reached the final of the Kuwait Open and was defeated by Jayson Shaw from Scotland with 10:13. By reaching the final again, he then took first place in the world rankings. At the All Japan Championship 2016 , however, he was eliminated in the round of 32 against Cheng Yu-hsuan .

Chang took part in the World Cup of Pool twice with Ko Pin-yi . In 2010 and 2013 the Taiwanese doubles lost in the semi-finals to the Filipino doubles, which they won the tournament in 2013.

With the Taiwanese national team, he became world champion in 2012 .
