The All Japan Championship 2016 (also Japan Open 2016 ) was a pool tournament in the 9-ball discipline that took place from November 19 to 23, 2016 in the Archaic hall in Amagasaki ( Japan ). It was the 49th edition of the All Japan Championship.
After 2011 and 2013, the winner was the Taiwanese Ko Pin-yi for the third time , who defeated the Philippine Jeffrey de Luna 11: 3 in the final. Thorsten Hohmann and Cheng Yu-hsuan took third place. Defending champion Johann Chua was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Hohmann. In the women's finals , Chen Ho-yun from Taiwan prevailed 9: 8 against the Japanese Chihiro Kawahara . The defending champion was the South Korean Kim Ga-young .

The 32 best-placed players in the world rankings as of the China Open 2016 were set for the main men's tournament. The other 96 participants were determined from November 17 to 18 in a qualifying tournament played in a double knockout system . The 128 participants in the main tournament were initially divided into groups in which they competed against each other in a double knockout system. 16 players in each group qualified for the final round in the knockout system . The goal of the game was nine games in the qualifying tournament and group stage and eleven in the final round. The game was played with an alternating break.
64 players took part in the women's tournament and competed against each other in four groups in the double knockout system. Eight players in each group qualified for the final round. The goal of the women’s game was seven games in the group stage and nine in the final round, and the game was also played with an alternating break.
