Kuo Po-Cheng ( Chinese  郭柏成 , Pinyin Guō Bǎichéng ; born January 15, 1978 in New Taipei ) is a Taiwanese pool player . He was vice world champion in 9-ball in 2005 and 2010 .

Career

At the 9-Ball World Championship in 2003 , Kuo finished 65th. At the San Miguel Tour in the same year he managed to finish fifth. In 2004, his best result on the San Miguel Tour was a ninth place. At the 9-ball World Cup in 2004 he reached the semi-finals, which he lost 4:11 against eventual world champion Alex Pagulayan . In 2005 , after victories against Steve Davis , Roman Hybler and Rodney Morris , he made it to the World Cup final, in which he was defeated by his compatriot Wu Chia-Ching 16:17. In the same year he managed to take third place in the World Pool League and fifth place as the best result in the San Miguel Tour.

In 2006 Kuo reached 17th place at the BCA Open, and then 33rd place at the US Open . At the 9-Ball World Cup , he was eliminated in the round of 16 against eventual world champion Ronato Alcano after defeating Marlon Manalo , among others . At the BCA Open 2007 Kuo came in 33rd place, at the 9-Ball World Cup he lost to later vice world champion Roberto Gomez after victories against Oliver Ortmann and Corey Deuel in the quarter-finals .

At the 2008 10-Ball World Championship , Kuo finished 65th. At the Japan Open in 2008 he came in 17th place and in 2009 he reached fifth place. At the Philippines Open in 2009, he finished 26th. After finishing fifth at the China Open , he finished 17th at the Qatar International Open. At the World Games 2009 Kuo was eliminated in the round of 16 against the American Shane van Boening . At the 10-Ball World Cup he was defeated by the Swede Marcus Chamat 7: 9 in the last 64.

2010 Kuo reached the sixteenth finals at the World Pool Masters , in which he was eliminated against the eventual finalist Tōru Kuribayashi . At the US Open, which took place immediately after the Masters, he finished 17th. At the 9-Ball World Cup he reached a World Cup final for the second time in 2010, but lost it 7:13 against Francisco Bustamante from the Philippines . In November 2010, Kuo won the gold medal in 8-ball in the final against Ibrahim Bin Amir at the Asian Games . At the 8-ball World Cup 2011 , Kuo Po-Cheng finished 33rd. He finished 17th at the Philippines Open and 32nd at the Beijing Open. At the 10-Ball World Cup and the 9-Ball World Cup , he came in 33rd place. He finished ninth at the China Open that took place in between. At the World Series of Pool in 2011, he finished fifth.

In 2012 Kuo reached the round of 64 at the 8-Ball World Championships , as in the three World Championships in 2011. In November 2012, he was ninth at the Japan Open. At the 9-Ball World Championships in 2013 and 2014 , Kuo was eliminated with only one win in the preliminary round. In November 2015, he reached the quarter-finals of the Japan Open , where he lost 10:11 to Ronato Alcano.
