The US Open 2013 (officially: US Open 9-Ball Championship 2013 ) was the 38th edition of the US Open in the pool 9-ball discipline . They took place October 14-19 , 2013 at the Marriott Chesapeake in Chesapeake , Virginia , USA .
The American Shane van Boening , who was also the defending champion, won the tournament by beating Filipino Lee Van Corteza 13:10 in the final .
The then 9-ball world champion Thorsten Hohmann was the best German of the tournament with 17th place.
mode
The tournament was played in a double knockout system . This means that a player was only eliminated from the tournament after the second loss. In the preliminary round, the game was played until one of the two players had won 11 games (so-called racks ); the final was played until 13. The player who scored the point in the previous rack (winner break) always started.
Prize money
A total of US $ 135,000 in prize money was distributed. The winner received $ 30,000 of this.
