Hayato Hijikata ( Japanese 土方 隼 斗 , Hijikata Hayato ; born March 16, 1986 ) is a Japanese pool player .

Career

In September 2005, Hijikata was in the final against the Taiwanese Wu Yu-lun junior world champion . In 2007 he finished third at the All Japan Open . At the 10-ball world championship in 2008 he lost to his compatriot Satoshi Kawabata in the round of 32 . In 2009 he was eliminated from Dennis Orcollo in the round of 32.

In July 2010, Hijikata reached the round of 16 of the 9-ball World Cup , but lost it to the Serbian Šandor Tot . He lost the sixteenth finals of the 8-Ball World Cup in 2012 against his compatriot Yukio Akakariyama . At the 9-Ball World Cup in September 2013, Hijikata was eliminated in the preliminary round. At the US Open 2013 he finished 17th. In June 2014 reached the round of 32 of the China Open . A few days later he moved into the round of 32 at the 9-ball world championship , in which he was defeated by Elmer Haya from the Philippines . At the Japan Open 2015 he reached the round of 16.

Hijikata has taken part in the World Cup of Pool twice so far . He reached the round of 16 together with Satoshi Kawabata in 2009 . In 2014 he retired with Masaaki Tanaka in the first round. In 2014 he took part in the team world championship for the first time and was eliminated with the Japanese team in the semi-finals against eventual world champion China 2 .
