The house Unterlimpurger Straße 53 in Schwäbisch Hall is a late medieval building and monument in the Gothic style , the construction of which was dendrochronologically dated to the 15th century. The house was used for centuries as a nail forge, locksmith's shop and residential and commercial building and is located in the Unterlimpurger suburb in Schwäbisch Hall. Today the building is still used as an office and residential building. So there are the offices of the bailiff of the District Court of Schwäbisch Hall on the ground floor.

location

The house is located in the ensemble of the St. Urban Church in Unterlimpurger Straße, about half a kilometer southeast of the medieval town center of Schwäbisch Hall.

description

The building is a three-storey half-timbered house with man figures , cleats , advances and joining work. Today's gray-blue color of the beams of the framework is based on a finding probably from the 17th / 18th centuries. Century. The building has a Bohlenstube received at the southeast corner of the house and elaborate Bohlen ceilings on all floors. There is an original extension on the north rear of the building. Architecturally, the large cross-frame windows are also remarkable. The house is closed off by a half- hipped roof covered with plain tiles . On the south-east side of the structure there is an open, not rotten water channel for forwarding the Badersklingenbach into the river Kocher, which is about 180 m to the south-west .

history

The construction of the house is dendrochronologically dated to the middle of the 15th century. The timbers of the half-timbered construction of the main house show the fall year 1456, those of the extension date the fall year 1457/58. Little is known about the original function of the building, which was located in the Limpurg bar area in the Middle Ages . An examination of the valid books and tax registers of the city of Hall from 1602 onwards showed that the building was used as a nail smithy, locksmith's shop, and a residential and commercial building with a shop and connected accommodation. Since the occupations of the owners are usually missing in the books, it seems to have been the day laborers , casual workers and auxiliary workers so typical for Unterlimpurg . As early as October 8, 1925, the building at Unterlimpurger Straße 53 was included in the state directory of architectural monuments in Württemberg.
