Dole (canal)
As Dole , from Old High German Dola "tube chute" ( the Dole, in some German dialects of Dole) the most tubular enclosure is called a watercourse for tunneling. They are often the passages of small watercourses through dams on roads and railways. In the settlement area, streams are often "overturned" on long stretches in order to eliminate the stream from the cityscape. For ecological reasons, these dipping are partially reversed.
In some areas the term Dole means something like sewer or drainage ditch, see sewerage , in some areas of southern Germany and in Switzerland the street drain is referred to as “Dole” .
