Johnny Lee Archer (born November 12, 1968 in Spring Hill , Florida ) is an American pool player .

Career

He won the WPA World Championship in 9-Ball in 1992 and 1997 and made it to the final again in 1998, in which he was defeated by Kunihiko Takahashi . In total, he has won over 60 professional tournaments in his career, including the US Open in 9-Ball in 1999. In the same year, he achieved his best result so far at the World Pool Masters with the semifinals .

He has also represented the USA 17 times at the Mosconi Cup , most recently in 2013 . His nickname in the pool scene is The Scorpion .

In 2009 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Billiard Congress of America .

Archer currently resides in Acworth , Georgia with his wife Melanie and two children.
