Markus Juva (born June 4, 1975 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish pool player .

Career

For the first time Finnish champion was Juva 1994 in the discipline 8-Ball . In 2003 he won the title in 14/1 endlessly , in 2004 in 8-ball and 9-ball . In July 2004 he retired from the 9-ball world championship as group six in the preliminary round. In June 2005 Juva won a Euro Tour tournament for the first time in the final against the Maltese Tony Drago with the Austrian Open . On the International Pool Tour in 2006 Juva finished 37th at the North American Open and 65th at the World Open. At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2006 , he reached the round of 64 and was defeated by Rudy Morta from the Philippines with 8:10. At the Austria Open 2007 he reached the semi-finals, where he lost 7:10 to Tony Drago.

In spring 2008 Juva reached the semi-finals in two Euro Tour tournaments; at the French Open he lost again to Tony Drago, at the German Open he lost to the Italian Fabio Petroni . At the EM 2008 he reached the quarterfinals in 8-ball, in which he had to admit defeat to the Serbian Zoran Svilar 3: 8. At the 10-Ball World Cup in 2008 , he was eliminated with just one win in the preliminary round. A year later he made it to the round of 64. At the 2010 European Championship , he reached the round of 16 endlessly in 14/1. A month later he also reached the round of 16 at the Italy Open . In 2013 he became Finnish champion in 9-ball for the second time by beating Aki Heiskanen in the final . In 2016, Juva was nominated for the European Championship for the first time since 2010, but did not reach the final round in any of the four disciplines. At the subsequent Austrian Open 2016 , after six years, he again made it into the finals of a Euro Tour tournament. However, he was eliminated in the round of 32 against Imran Majid .

Juva has taken part in the World Cup of Pool five times so far and has always formed the Finnish team there with Mika Immonen . After they had reached the round of 16 in 2006 , they moved into the final in 2007 , in which they were defeated by the Chinese Li Hewen and Fu Jianbo with 10:11. In 2008, however, they were eliminated in the first round before reaching the second round in 2009 and the quarter-finals in 2010 .

With the Finnish national team, Juva came third in 2004 , 2005 and 2016 .

In 2010 he was part of the Finnish team that reached the round of 16 at the Team World Cup .
