Aki Heiskanen (born December 13, 1978 ) is a Finnish pool player . In 2006 he became vice European champion in the 8-ball discipline .

Career

In 2001 Heiskanen became the Finnish champion for the first time in 8-ball . At the 9-Ball World Championship in 2001 , however, he was eliminated as eighth in his group in the preliminary round. In December 2001 he won the bronze medal at the Finland Open , a tournament on the Euro Tour . In 2003 he was again the Finnish 8-ball champion. At the European Championships in 2003 he came in 14/1 endlessly on 33rd place. After he had won the Finnish championship title in 14/1 endlessly in 2004 and 2005 , he made it into the finals of the European Championship 2006 in 8-ball, in which he was defeated by the German Oliver Ortmann with 8:10. In addition, he became the Finnish 8-ball champion in 2006.

At the 8-ball World Cup in 2007 , he was eliminated with just one win in the preliminary round. In the Finnish championship in 2007 he won two titles for the first time (8-ball and 14/1 endless), of which he was able to successfully defend one (14/1 endless) the following year. At the EM 2009 he reached the quarter-finals in 14/1 endlessly and in 8-ball. In 2010 he became the Finnish 8-ball champion. In March 2012, he moved into the semi-finals of the 9-ball competition of the European Championship , in which he was defeated 4: 9 by the Swede Marcus Chamat . At the 9-ball World Cup in 2012 he reached the round of 64. In 2012, he was Finnish champion in 14/1 endless and in 9-ball.

At the 2013 European Championships he reached the round of 32 in 8-ball. A year later he made it into the last sixteen in 9-ball, where he lost 8: 9 to the Dutchman Huidji See . In the three other disciplines he was eliminated in the round of 32. At the Finnish championship in 2014, he won the 14/1 endless and 9-ball titles. At the European Championships in 2015 he reached the round of 16 in 14/1 endlessly and the quarter-finals in 10-ball, in which he was defeated by the Spaniard Francisco Díaz-Pizarro 6-8 . In addition, he was the Finnish 8-ball champion for the sixth time in 2015.

With the Finnish national team, Heiskanen was third in the 2012 European Championship. At the team world championship he was twice part of the Finnish team, with whom he reached the round of 16 in 2010 and 2012 .
