Kelly Fisher (born August 25, 1978 in Pontefract ) is a professional English pool - and former English billiards and snooker player and five-time snooker and two-time English billiards world champion . She is not related to Allison Fisher and Mandy Fisher .

Career

Fisher grew up in South Elmsall , near her birthplace, Pontefract , West Yorkshire . She learned to play billiards at the pool table in her parents' pub , switched to snooker at the age of 13 and was number one in the world for two consecutive years at the age of 21.

Fisher won the women's snooker world championship for the first time from 1998 to 2000, and then again in 2002 and 2003. During the same period, she also played English billiards, where she was world champion in 2001 and 2003, and vice world champion in 1999 and 2002. In 2003 she was double world champion. After that she switched to professional pool sport for financial reasons, because higher prize money is being spent there.

In 2001 she won four tournaments in a row with the British Open , Belgian Open , LG Cup and the UK Championship , and was able to expand this number to 10 by October 2002 when she won the LG Cup again.

She reached every final of the European Ladies' Championship , losing only once to former West Yorkshire (Batley) champion Shakeel Kamal . In 2003, Fisher won her first IBSF Women's World Championship.

When the sports umbrella organization canceled its support of the women's games in 2003 and withdrew from all major tournaments, Fisher faced the decision to either look for a full-time job or to switch to professional pool operation. She chose pool, moved to the USA and immediately played on the Women's Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) 9-ball tour, imitating her two compatriots Allison Fisher and Karen Corr , both also former snooker players.

After being listed in the top 10 women's players for two years, Fisher won the San Diego Classic three times in a row from 2005 to 2007 and was named No. 1 in the women's world rankings after also winning the US Open Championship . Since then she has won the International Tournament of Champions (IToC) in the women's league in 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2015, the US Open , 2011 the 10-Ball World Championships, 2012 the WPA 9-Ball World Championships and in the same year became the "WPA Player of the Year ”, followed in 2013 by the next WPA 9-Ball World Championship title.
