Jana Wadsimauna Schut ( Belarusian Яна Вадзімаўна Шут , Russian Яна Вадимовна Шут Jana Wadimowna Schut , English transcription: Yana Shut ; born July 29, 1997 in Minsk ) is a Belarusian billiards player . She was twice Belarusian champion in 9-ball (2009, 2011) and snooker (2015, 2017) and won the U18 world snooker championship in 2015 . In 2018 she became the European Women's 10-Ball Champion .

Career

Jana Schut started playing billiards in 2005 at the age of seven . She was brought about by her father Vadsim Schut , who plays snooker himself and in 2013 became the Belarusian master among the over 40 seniors. Her mother is a snooker referee. Jana Schut initially played pool and the Russian billiards variant, which is particularly popular in Eastern Europe . She started snooker four years later.

After she took part in a European Cup tournament in her hometown for the first time in 2007, she was eliminated from the preliminary round of the 2010 World Youth Championship in Moscow in the Free Pyramid without a win.

In 2006 Schut reached the final of the Belarusian U18 championship in 9-ball . In 2009 she was nominated for the European Youth Championship , in which she was eliminated in the 8-ball and 9-ball in the preliminary round. In the same year, she reached the finals of both women's competitions of the Belarusian championship and won the title in 9-ball. At 12 years and 4 months she is the youngest Belarusian champion in pool until today (as of December 2017) . In November 2011 she reached the final again in both competitions of the Belarusian championship and met Anastassija Tumilowitsch . After losing 3: 4 in 8-ball, Schut won the 9-ball final 6: 4. In the following years she focused her career on snooker. In 2016 she took part in the national championship for the first time after winning the title and reached the finals in all three competitions. However, she had to admit defeat to the record winner Marharyta Fjafilawa three times (4: 5 in 8-ball, 2: 6 in 9-ball and 1: 5 in 10-ball ). A year later , four disciplines were played endlessly with the introduction of a competition in the 14/1 . Schut made it to the finals three times, each time followed by a loss to Fjafilawa. In the 8-ball she was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Palina Tschernik .

In July 2018, Schut took part in the European Championship for the first time . After she was knocked out without a win in 14/1, she defeated Yini Gaspar , Sara Rocha and Oliwia Czupryńska in 10-Ball and finally made it to the final. In the final, she beat the record European champion Jasmin Ouschan 6-2 and became the first Belarusian to become European champion. Then she reached the round of 32 in the 8-ball and was again without a win in the 9-ball.

After she was eliminated in the preliminary round in her first three appearances (2008, 2010, 2011) at the Belarusian championship in the general class, she was the only player to reach the second round in 2012, in which she lost 2-1 to Aljaksandr Zhdanovich . A little later she came out of the preliminary round for the first time at the European Women's Championship . In the last sixteen she lost to the Russian Darja Sirotina . In 2013 she won the bronze medal at the European team championships together with Anastassija Tumilowitsch . At the individual European Championships, Schut reached the quarter-finals, in which she lost to later European champion Wendy Jans . In the same year she won the Polish women's championship, which was held as an open championship . In December 2013, she reached the round of 24 at the World Amateur Championship .

In January 2014, Schut was the Belarusian U18 champion in the final against Uladsislau Schopik . A little later she was defeated by Anastassija Tumilowitsch in the final of the Belarusian women's championship with 1: 3. In the general class, she reached the quarter-finals for the first time in May 2014 and lost 3-0 to Sjarhej Melnitschenok . At the EM 2014 she was eliminated in the round of 16 against Darja Sirotina. At the team EM she took third place together with Tumilowitsch. In the same year she won the Mixed Doubles World Championship of the professional association WLBSA together with Ben Woollaston and reached the final of the WLBSA U21 World Cup, which she lost 3-1 to Hannah Jones .

At the beginning of 2015, Schut managed to defend his title in the Belarusian U18 championship against Kiryl Marholin . A little later she became Belarusian women's champion for the first time with a 3-0 final win against Olga Iwanowa . In the open category, however, she was eliminated in the round of 16. A little later she reached a semifinals for the first time on the WLBSA tour at the Eden Masters. At the WLBSA U21 World Cup she reached the final, which she lost, however, 2: 3 to Jasmine Bolsover . After she reached the quarter-finals at the European Championships and the U21 World Championships of the IBSF , she moved into the final at the first edition of the IBSF U18 World Championship in St. Petersburg in October 2015 , in which she beat the Russian Anastassija Singurindi 3-0 defeated and became U18 world champion.

At the Belarusian women's championship in 2016, Schut was eliminated in the semi-finals against Anastassija Tumilowitsch. A little later she also lost Tumilowitsch in the round of 16 of the open national championship. At the European Championships, Schut lost to the German Diana Stateczny in the round of 16 . At the IBSF U21 World Cup she reached the quarter-finals in 2016, where she lost 4-1 to Varsha Sanjeev . In the same year she moved into the semi-finals of the U21 European Championship of the WLBSA and was also subject to Sanjeev from India.

In March 2017, Schut became Belarusian champion for the second time with a 3-0 final victory against Anastassija Tumilowitsch. Throughout the tournament, she remained without a frame loss. At the national championship in the open class, she was eliminated for the third time in a row in the round of 16, this time against Kiryl Marholin. In June 2017 she reached the semi-finals at the European Championships and lost 3-1 to Anna Prisjažņuka . A little later she reached the quarter-finals of the U21 World Cup as the only European, in which she was defeated by the Chinese Xia Yuying .

At the beginning of 2018, Schut made it into the semi-finals of the Belarusian open class championship for the first time, in which, however, she had to admit defeat to eventual tournament winner Uladsislau Ramanouski with 1: 3. At the European Women's Championship she reached the semifinals for the second time in a row in 2018 and was eliminated after a 2-0 lead with 2: 4 against Cathy Dehaene .
