The Chicago Rush were an arena football team from Chicago, Illinois that played in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Rush played their home games mainly in the Allstate Arena .
history
The Rush were founded in 2001 and started in the AFL. After the Chicago Bruisers , who played between 1987 and 1989, they are the second team in Chicago to play in the AFL.
The franchise's very first game was on April 21, 2001, when the Oklahoma Wranglers lost with 44:45.
The franchise reached the playoffs every time in its history, except for 2012. Nevertheless, the ArenaBowl was only reached once . However, this was won in 2006 against the Orlando Predators .
The Rush are the most-shown AFL franchise in league history , according to a report by the Chicago Tribune . In 2008 they also achieved a stadium occupancy rate of an incredible 98%.
After the 2013 season, the Rush were dissolved. One factor has also been the poor attendance figures since the AFL was reborn in 2010. While the number of viewers rose every year up to 2009, this fell by 2013 to only 4,330 per home game.
