The Dallas Desperados were an arena football team from Dallas, Texas that played in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Desperados played their home games mainly at the American Airlines Center .
history
The Desperados were founded in 2002 by Jerry Jones . Jones is a businessman who also owns the NFL Dallas Cowboys . In the seven years of its existence, the Desperados moved into the playoffs five times. In 2008 the Desperados were dissolved.
2002-2008 season (AFL)
The Desperados made it into the playoffs five times in their history, but failed there, twice as the best team in the main round, at the latest in the conference finals.
In their debut year 2002, the Desperados failed in the quarterfinals of the Chicago Rush .
In 2003 the Georgia Force surprised, despite a worse record, with a 49:45 win over Dallas in the first round.
In 2006 and 2007 they became the best team in the main round in the league, with 13 wins and 3 losses in 2006 and even 15 wins with only one loss in 2007. Nevertheless, they only failed in the 2006 conference final against the Orlando Predators , and in 2007 in the divisional playoffs against the Columbus Destroyers .
In 2008, the Desperados secured themselves again as the second best team in the league to play in, but again the first round was surprisingly over. This time they lost out to the New York Dragons .
When the AFL paused for the 2009 season, the Desperados also disbanded.
