Sebastian Staab (born July 26, 1985 ) is a German pool player . He has been German individual champion six times so far .

Career

Sebastian Staab started playing billiards at the age of nine . After finishing fifth in 8-ball at the German Youth Championship in 1996 , he took part in the European Youth Championship for the first time in 1998 . In 1998 and 2001 Staab was German youth champion in 8-ball. At the 2001 European Youth Championships , he was European champion in 14/1 in the final against Norwegian Kjetil Fredriksen . In addition, he became European student champion with the German team.

In 2007 he qualified for the first time for the 14/1 endless world championship . He reached the double knockout round and finished 17th. A few months later, at the Netherlands Open , he qualified for the finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time. He failed in the round of 16 just 9:10 against the Englishman Mark Gray . In the same year he qualified for the first time for the quarter-finals at the German championships . At the Italy Open 2008 he reached the second round again, but lost to Daryl Peach 3: 9. In 2008 he qualified again for the 14/1 endless World Cup , where he was eliminated in group five in the preliminary round.

At the German Championship in 2012 , he won silver in the 9-ball and gold in the first-ever 10-ball competition. At the 2013 European Championships , he was, alongside Ina Kaplan , the most successful German athlete when he reached the quarter-finals in 8-ball. In 2013 he won the Stuttgart Open . At the German Championship 2013 he won silver in 14/1 after a final defeat against Andreas Roschkowsky . In the 8-ball he won the gold medal after clearly defeating Raphael Wahl 8-0 in the final. In the 9-ball quarter-finals he lost to Nicolas Ottermann before he was finally able to defend his 10-ball title. At the 2014 European Championship , Staab reached the round of 16 in the 14/1 endlessly, but was eliminated from the Belgian Moritz Lauwereyns . He also came in 17th place in 10-ball and 8-ball. In November of the same year he won the 8-ball final against Oliver Ortmann at the German championship and was defeated by Neuwerker Sascha Jülichmanns in the 9-ball final .

In the 2008/09 season he rose to the 1st Bundesliga with Fortuna Bexbach . A year later , however, the relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga followed . In 2011 Staab switched back to the PBC Joker Altstadt , with whom he has been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga since 2014 after three consecutive promotions.

Staab came third with the German national team in 2014 and 2015 and reached the quarter-finals of the team world championship in 2014 . Sebastian plays a queue of the brand Vollmer and a Break Cue the brand Kruger .
