Mieszko Fortuński (born April 1, 1992 ) is a Polish pool player .
Career
Mieszko Fortuński started playing billiards in 1998 . At the European Youth Championships in 2008 he won the bronze medal in the 9-ball for students and in 2009 in the 8-ball and 9-ball for the juniors. He was also twice vice European champion with the team; 2008 with the Polish students, 2009 with the Polish juniors.
In September 2008 Fortuński made it into the finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time ; at the Netherlands Open he was eliminated in the round of 32 against the eventual finalist Mehmet Cankurt . In December 2009 he won his first medals in the Polish men's championship with third places in 9-ball and 8-ball . A year later he became Polish champion in 9-ball and runner-up in 10-ball with a 7-6 final win against Tomasz Kapłan . At the Bosnia & Herzegovina Open 2012 he reached the round of 16 for the first time on the Euro Tour, which he lost to his compatriot Karol Skowerski . At the Polish championship in 2012 he was also defeated by Karol Skowerski in the final of the 9-ball competition.
In April 2014, Fortuński won his first Euro Tour medal at the North Cyprus Open . After victories against Dimitri Jungo , Nick van den Berg and Serge Das , he made it to the semi-finals, where he lost 3: 9 to the eventual tournament winner, the German Ralf Souquet . In June 2014 he took part in the 9-ball world championship for the first time, where he reached the round of 64 and lost 6:11 against Carlo Biado from the Philippines . At the Dutch Open 2014 he made it to the quarter-finals. At the Polish championship in 2014 he won the titles in the 9-ball and 10-ball disciplines.
Fortuński reached the round of 16 at the 10-Ball World Cup in 2015 , losing to Spaniard David Alcaide 7:11. In April 2015 he took part in the European Championship for the first time , where he reached the round of 16 in 14/1 endless and the round of 32 in 9-ball. After only reaching the round of 16 at the Dutch Open in 2015 , he won a Euro Tour tournament for the first time in February 2016. After victories against former world champions Niels Feijen and Jayson Shaw , he moved into the final of the Italian Open , in which he defeated Ralf Souquet 9: 6. At the European Championships in 2016 he won the bronze medal in the 10-ball after he was eliminated in the semifinals against the Finn Petri Makkonen . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2016 he reached the round of 64 and was defeated by the Estonian Denis Grabe with 3:11. In November 2016 he was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Treviso Open 8: 9 against eventual tournament winner David Alcaide.
At the Italian Open 2017 Fortuński lost as defending champion in the quarter-finals to Denis Grabe. At the 2017 European Championship , he reached the semi-finals in 14/1, where he was eliminated by Tomasz Kapłan. In the 8-ball competition he reached the quarter-finals and was defeated by the Spaniard Francisco Sánchez .
With the Polish national team, Fortuński was European champion in 2015 and third in 2017.
