Andreas Gerwen (born November 1, 1983 ) is a Swedish pool player .

Career

In 2009 Gerwen took part in the European Championship for the first time and finished 65th in 8-ball , 9-ball and 14/1 endless . In 2010 he reached the round of 16 in 9-ball and 17th place in 14/1 endless. In 2011 he reached the quarter-finals in 14/1, but lost to the Russian Roman Prutschai , and he also reached the sixteenth-finals in 8-ball. At the Austria Open 2011 Gerwen reached the finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time , but was eliminated in the sixteenth finals against Philipp Stojanovic . At the Treviso Open he reached the round of 16 for the first time, but lost it to Chris Melling 8: 9.

At the EM 2012 Gerwen won his only medal so far. In the 8-ball he was only defeated in the semi-finals by the Ukrainian Artem Koshovyi . At the German Open he reached the round of 16 in 2012, but lost it to Oliver Ortmann , at the China Open he finished in 33rd place and at the North Cyprus Open he was eliminated in the round of 16 with 8: 9 against Bruno Muratore . In March 2013 Gerwen reached the final of the Interpool 9-Ball Open, but lost it to Mika Immonen from Finland . At the European Championships in April he was eliminated in all four disciplines (8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball , 14/1 endless) in the round of 16. At the Castel-Brando Open 2013 he was also eliminated in the round of 16. At the 2014 European Championship , Gerwen did not get beyond 17th place in the 10-ball. On the Euro Tour he also lost his fifth round of 16 at the North Cyprus Open , this time against Imran Majid . At the 9-ball world championship in 2014 Gerwen reached the final round of a World Cup for the first time, but was eliminated in the round of 64 against the Russian Konstantin Stepanow .

Gerwen has taken part in the World Cup of Pool three times , but retired in the first round in 2012 and 2013 together with Marcus Chamat and in 2014 with Tomas Larsson .

With the Swedish team, Gerwen took part in three team world championships and was eliminated in 2010 in the round of 16 against Germany 2, in 2012 in the quarter-finals against eventual world champion Taiwan and in 2014 in the round of 16 against eventual world champion China 2.
