The Berkner Bank ( English ) is a submarine bank in the middle of the West Antarctic Weddell Sea . Berkner Island and the Henry Ice Rise are based on it .
The formation has been named after Lloyd Viel Berkner (1905–1967), a member of the American Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930) , since 1973 .
