The German Free Game Championship has been played in the free game carom variant since 1939 . The championship was held in different locations until 2004. From 2005 it will take place in an overall championship of all carom disciplines in the Hessian spa town of Bad Wildungen.

history

As early as 1930, a German championship in the free game was held in Solingen. But only second-rate players took part in this championship because the top players showed no interest in this discipline. Therefore this championship was not counted. So it was not until 1939 that the first official championship was held in Vienna. After the annexation of Austria by the National Socialists, Vienna was part of the German Empire. Austrian players also took part. With Eduard Leutgeb, an Austrian was the first German champion. German championships in the free game did not take place regularly until after the war. The records that were previously achieved are no longer possible today because the distances have often been changed. That is why Klaus Hose's records can no longer be improved today. Extended series have not been carried out for a long time. Up to a game distance of 300 points, Thomas Nockenmann holds the record with a GD of 250.00 .
