Founding news 1958

The Coupe d'Europe was at the founding meeting of the Confédération Européenne de Billard (CEB) on 12./13. July 1958 in Geneva as Coupe d'Europe d'Equipe as a three- cushion club team match added to the international tournament calendar for the first time in the 1958/59 season. The name was later "polished" to its current form. The “Coupe d'Europe” is comparable to the Champions League in football .

Attendees

The respective club national champions in three cushion have the right to participate in the tournament series. Qualifying tournaments are held in various European countries, the winners of which contest the final round at the end of each season (June). The winner is automatically placed for the next final round and has the first authorization to host the next final round.

The organizer is the European carom billiard association CEB ( Confédération Européenne de Billard ).

mode

The game is played with teams of four players. From 1958/59 to the 1976/77 season and from 1983/84 to 1990/91 the game distance per player was 50 points. In between, the top player played up to 60 points per team. From the 1991/92 season on two sets of wins up to 15 points were played. Starting in 2002/03, the semifinals and finals in the final tournament, the distance was increased to three winning sets. From the 2011/12 season onwards, up to 40 points will be played in the qualification and final round.
