The three-cushion European championship for women has been held since 2005 in the three- cushion carom variant . It usually takes place every two years, alternating with the Women's World Cup . It is organized by the European carom billiards association CEB ( Confédération Européenne de Billard ). From 2016 the championship will take place three times under the name European Ladies Cup in Rosmalen in the Netherlands.

History

After the first world championship was held in 1999, albeit under a different name, the CEB decided to host a European three-cushion championship for women for the first time in 2005.

The most successful title holder is Therese Klompenhouwer from the Netherlands with seven titles. In addition, she still holds all records except for the highest series (HS) held by Gülşen Degener with 10.

After the women's European championship was embedded in the overall European championships in Brandenburg an der Havel in 2013 and 2015, they were spun off in 2016 and started as a separate tournament. The European Championship was renamed the European Ladies Cup and took place annually in Rosmalen in the Netherlands until 2018. After seven titles in a row, Therese Klompenhouwer had to admit defeat in the final account for the first time in 2018. Despite excellent performances, she lost the final against Gülşen Degener from Turkey with 24:30 in 28 shots. In 2019, the European championship was again held as part of the multi-event in carom billiards in Brandenburg an der Havel.

Tournament mode

At the beginning the CEB took over the sentence system with admission limitation from the world championship. In addition, the "Best of 3" mode was played. In contrast to the World Cup, you did not play at a distance of 10, but at 15 points. In 2007 the distance was then reduced to 12 points, despite the increased level of play. Since 2013, up to 25 points have been played in the group phase and up to 30 points in the knockout phase.
