Gülşen Degener (born October 25, 1968 in Şanlıurfa , Turkey) is a Germany-based, Turkish-born carom player .
Life
Gülşen Degener was born in 1968 in the southeast Turkish city of Şanlıurfa. She started playing billiards while studying English, German, philology and literature at Uludağ University in Bursa . After starting with Free Game , she switched to three-cushion , the most difficult collision variant. She soon became the best Turkish player, who also impressed Semih Saygıner and Tayfun Taşdemir .
In the mid-1990s, Degener moved to Berlin. In 1999 she played for the leading Dutch women's team (Tabara) in the first division. In 2001 she was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in the Berlin / Brandenburg League. In the 2002-2003 season she played for the German second division club BSG Duisburg before moving to the Portuguese first division club Centro Norton de Matos for the 2005/06 season. She currently plays for the Billard Akademie Berlin and the Paris Club Maisen Alford .
In 2019 Degener won her 15th gold medal in a row at the Turkish Women's Three Cushion Championships.
Private
Degener currently lives in both Berlin and Turkey, is married and has one child.
