Since 2015 namesake of the women's tournament: Jennifer Shim †

The Verhoeven Open (women) , Jennifer Shim International Open since 2015 , is an offshoot of the Verhoeven Open and was held for the first time as a pure women’s tournament in 2013. The Verhoeven Open itself is approved for both genders, so some players will still take part in this tournament afterwards.

Internet broadcaster Kozoom has been broadcasting all games live worldwide since 2013 .

history

In 2013 a tournament for women was held for the first time. It took place from July 14th to 16th. The winner was the world number one Therese Klompenhouwer from the Netherlands. She beat the four-time world champion Orie Hida in the final with 25:16 in 17 shots. However, Hida played the best individual average (ED) with 1.562. Klompenhouwer managed the best series (HS) with 9 points . In 2015 the women's tournament ran under the name Jennifer Shim International . The tournament was named in memory of American professional player Jennifer Shim, who was shot dead by her ex-boyfriend on March 6, 2015 at the age of 41.

mode

  • 2013 : Only one main round was played in which all 11 participants had to compete against each other ( round robin mode ). The game was played on 25 points without a kick .
  • 2015 : The game was played in two preliminary round groups of 9 players (18 participants) in which all players had to compete against each other ( round robin mode ). The game is played on 25 points or 55 shots without a kick-off in the event of a win. If the game ends with less than 25 points, there is a follow-up. The first 4 players in each group play the winner in the knockout system. The game is played up to 30 points with no limit on the number of entries and no post-kick. Places three to eight will be played in playoffs.
  • 2017 : The number of participants grew to 28. The game was played in four preliminary round groups of 7 players each, in which all players had to compete against each other (round robin mode). In the group stage, the game was played on 25 points or 55 shots without a kick-off in the event of a win. If the game ends with less than 25 points, there is a follow-up. The best 2 players in each group play the winner in the knockout system. In the final round and the placement games, up to 30 points were played without a limit on the number of entries and without a kick-off. Places three to eight were played off in playoffs.
  • 2019 : The round robin system is played in the preliminary round in three groups. Two groups of eight and one group of seven participants. The matches are played up to 25 points or 55 shots. There is no follow-up unless the match is over 55 shots. Then it is played with a push. The two best in the group and the two best thirds qualify for the knockout round. Here the mach distance is 30 points.
