The Verhoeven Open Tournament 2019 was a carom tournament in the three cushion discipline and took place from August 5th to 11th in New York , USA .

The Belgian defending champion Eddy Merckx was the winner . He is the third player after the Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl (2005) and his compatriot Frédéric Caudron (2007) to defend his title. In his last final against Blomdahl he also played the highest series of 18. The Dane Dion Nelin played the best game with an average of 8.333 (25 points in 3 shots) in his preliminary round match against the American Christian Portillo.

mode

In the first round, the game is played on 25 points without an extra kick . The two best in the group and the five best thirds in the group go into the main round. In the United States it is customary that in the event of a tie, it is not the GD but the points quotient that is decisive for advancement. The German Markus Dömer qualified for the final round due to the cancellation of Yuku Nishimoto, who could not play. In addition, three places, one through a raffle (Eric Kwon) and two through an auction (Sang Jin-lee and Martin Olesen), are added to the main round. In addition, the four seeded players are in the main round. This means that 40 players play the main round to 35 points, again without a push. After the main round, a ranking of the last eight participants is created and the knockout round played.
