The first two of each group played in the A-final for places 1 to 8 to 50 points and the twelve best in places 3 to 5 in the B-final for places 9 to 20 to 40 points. The KO system was used here this year. All places were also played separately. Tournament commentary
The fourth edition of the Sang Lee International Open ended with a surprise. After two World Cup victories, Roland Forthomme prevailed against his compatriot Frédéric Caudron in the final with 50:41. In the small final, Martin Horn lost to the record World Cup winner Torbjörn Blomdahl with a 48:50. By switching to the knockout system in the final rounds, there was a lot more tension in the games. The Korean Heo Jung-han delivered a class performance in the final round B. With an overall average of 2,424 , he literally outclassed his opponents and ended up finishing ninth in the tournament. There was a rare result in the tournament series. They could score no less than nine players. By increasing the prize money to a total of US $ 125,000, Forthomme, who received US $ 25,000 for his win, earned the highest income of his career as a billiard athlete.
