Kim Kyung-roul (born February 23, 1980 - February 22, 2015 in Goyang ) was a South Korean carom player in the three- cushion discipline .
Career
Kim was one of the best Korean three-cushion players, although he had slipped from third to seventh place after the last edition of the world rankings and was overtaken by Choi Sung-won , who was two years older (6th place). His greatest success was winning the three-cushion World Cup in 2010. At the AGIPI Masters in March 2012, Kim had to admit defeat to ten-time world champion Torbjörn Blomdahl from Sweden with 31:50.
Private
Kim was married and had a daughter. He lived with his family in Seoul, where he owned six pool salons. Kim was considered the successor to the legendary Sang Chun Lee and a figurehead of his nation. Due to brain surgery and work in his salons, three of which he sold before his death, Kim was not as successful in international billiards in the years before his death.
death
On the eve of his 35th birthday in 2015, a tragic incident occurred in his parents' house in Ilsan, a district of Goyang, when Kim fell to his death from the balcony of the house in the early hours of the morning. Whether it was an accident or a suicide was not disclosed. According to police, no suicide note was found.
Others
Despite participating in major international tournaments, Kim, like Choi Sung-won and Kim Haeng-jik , spoke little English and needed an interpreter for interviews. Mostly this was Park Woo-jin from the Korean Billiards Association, who also translates for the other players. His cry of joy, which is rather untypical for Koreans, is known, which he uttered after winning games.
