The Verhoeven Open Tournament 2015 is a Karambolageturnier in the discipline three cushion and finds from 21 to 26 July New York , United States instead.

mode

In the group stage, ten groups of seven players each play against each other in round robin mode . The two best in the group and the four best third-placed finishers advance to the semi-finals. There they will meet the seeded players Torbjörn Blomdahl (defending champion), Dick Jaspers , Eddy Merckx , Frédéric Caudron Raymond Ceulemans and Marco Zanetti , who is back in New York for the first time after a ten-year break.

In the semifinals, 30 points are played. In the group stage the game was played to 25 points and in the final round to 40 points. The tournament had no referees overseeing the individual games. The players have to trust each other and enter their scores themselves. Above each table there is a kind of abacus on which the player has to display the score after completing his recording. The players must also make the entries on the computer themselves. A shot clock does not exist. The US players ( USBA members) received ranking points.

Preliminary round

In the first round, the game is played on 25 points without an extra kick . The two best group members come into the main round. The six seeded players are added to the 32 group best and two more players are determined via an auction or lottery. From these 20 players, four groups with 10 players are formed. These groups are also played in the round robin system. The first four of each group qualify for the knockout round of the last 16.
