The three- cushion world cup 2014/4 was the fourth UMB / CEB world cup tournament in the 28th year of the three- cushion world cup. It took place from October 6th to 12th, 2014 in Guri , South Korea . After 2013, it was the second World Cup tournament in the South Korean province of Gyeonggi-do.
The 149th three-cushion world cup tournament was a tournament of records. There were absolute world-class performances in the first three qualifying rounds. Of course, this was not least due to the fact that many players from the strongest three-band nation in the world, Korea, were represented. With Therese Klompenhouwer, a woman made it to the knockout round for the first time. But there was a defeat against the record World Cup winner Torbjörn Blomdahl the end of the line for the likeable Dutch woman. The most spectacular match was between Torbjörn Blomdahl and the Korean Cho Jae-ho in the quarter-finals. Blomdahl finished the game on the 15th shot. Cho managed to equalize 6 points in the second push. Blomdahl presented 6 points in the penalty. Cho only managed 2 points, with the third point just barely missing the crash. Still, Cho had a sense of achievement. He scored 120 points in 41 shots in the tournament. That gives a general average of 2,926, which is a new world record. In the purely Belgian final, Eddy Merckx secured his sixth World Cup victory with a 40:22 win in 16 shots against Frédéric Caudron .
A lot has changed in the tournament mode since 2013.
The sentence system was abolished because the dullness was not calculable. Matches could last between three and five sets. Good timing was therefore not possible.
The game distances were set at 30 points in the per-qualification rounds and 40 points in the main qualification and in the knockout games. A tie is possible in the qualifying rounds. In the knockout round, overtime is played in the event of a tie. Each of the two players starts with the initial push. Whoever scores more points wins the match. If there is also a tie in extra time, the kick starts again until a winner is determined.
There are only two wildcards for the organizer and one each for three of the four associations CPB , ACBC , CEB and ACC in which the World Cup does not take place.
Four qualifying rounds are played. From the last qualifying round, the 12 group winners and the three best runners-up qualify for the final round. The main tournament is played with 32 participants.
In the event of a tie, the following order will be applied:
The first 12 players in the world rankings and the wildcard players automatically took part as players in the tournament in the knockout round. The first four of the world rankings are placed in positions 1, 16, 8 and 9.
Wildcard players:
1 × CPB : Javier Teran
1 × CEB : Daniel Sánchez
2 × Organizing host: Heo Jung-han , Yoon Myoung-sin

Qualifying round
For the sake of clarity, qualification rounds 1, 2 and 3 are not shown. These can be looked up under the links at the UMB . In the last (4th) qualifying round, up to 40 points are played in groups A – L with 3 players each. The top four and the four best runners-up go to the final round of the best 32. In the event of a tie, the better GD applies .
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the " Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer. From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
