The three- cushion world cup 1999/3 was the third UMB / BWA world cup tournament in the 14th year of the three-cushion world cup. The tournament took place from November 11 to 14, 1999 in this discipline of carom billiards in Berlin . It was the eleventh three-cushion World Cup tournament in Germany.
history
Berlin was the last three-cushion World Cup tournament that was run by Dr. Werner Bayer, the founder of the World Cup, took place. He had to retire from this position for health reasons. How things will go on with the new management of the BWA has not yet been determined. It was a special tournament for the Italian Marco Zanetti . He had to wait nine years for his second victory after his first victory at the 1990 World Cup in Palma de Mallorca. But in Berlin he was the dominant player. As a qualifier, Martin Horn from Essen was able to fight his way to the final. But here he had no chance against Zanetti. But for Horn it was his best World Cup placement so far. With his third place, the American Sang Chun Lee took the lead in the overall World Cup.
The exact price money could not be determined from the documents.

^ Heinrich Weingartner: Billiards . No. 121 . Vienna January 2000, p. 9-13 .
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the "
Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association
Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer.
From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
