The three- cushion world cup 2007/6 was the sixth UMB / CPB world cup tournament in the 21st year of the three-cushion world cup. The tournament took place from October 15 to 21, 2007 in this discipline of carom billiards in Mexico City . It was the first three-cushion World Cup tournament in Mexico.
history
For the first time since 2003 in Las Vegas, a World Cup tournament took place on the American continent. There were no big surprises in the first main round. The quarter-finals started with a sensation. The already established World Cup winner 2007 Torbjörn Blomdahl was defeated by the Korean Hwang Durk-hee. Hwang always failed in the first round of the World Cup until Mexico City. In the quarter-finals, Martin Horn lost after a 2-0 lead against the eventual winner Frédéric Caudron with 2-3 sets. The Korean Kim Kyung-roul confirmed his strong performance in this World Cup season with his win against world number two Daniel Sánchez . In the final, Dick Jaspers was not enough to win with a 2-1 lead.

^ Heinrich Weingartner: Billiards . No. 198 . Vienna October 2007, p. 28-34 .
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the "
Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association
Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer.
From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
