The three- cushion world cup 2011/4 was the fourth UMB / CEB world cup tournament in the 25th year of the three-cushion world cup. The tournament took place from September 26th to October 2nd, 2011 in the Austrian capital Vienna . It was the first World Cup tournament in Austria.
history
The World Cup tournament in Vienna set several records. When the entry list closed, 90 interested participants were still on the entry list and could not be considered. After some cancellations, there were still 76 at the start of the tournament.
The sporting highlight of the tournament was the performance of the Belgian all-rounder Frédéric Caudron , who then also won the tournament. He achieved an average of over 2 in all games. That resulted in the new world record of 2,420 in the general average (GD). Only in one game in the round of 16 it was tight for Caudron. Against the Korean Choi Sung-won he had to play the full distance of five sets, but he clearly won the fifth set with 15: 3 in three shots. Also in the round of 16, world number one Dick Jaspers and his compatriot Dave Christiani fought a high-class match in which Christiani was able to finish a sentence in one shot for the first time. After his victory in Suwon, Torbjörn Blomdahl was able to defend his lead in the overall World Cup 2011 before the last tournament in Hurghada with second place in Vienna.

The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the "
Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association
Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer.
From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
