The three- cushion world cup 1996/1 was the first UMB world cup tournament in the eleventh year of the three- cushion world cup. The tournament took place from February 29 to March 3, 1996 in this discipline of carom billiards in the Turkish holiday resort of Antalya . It was the first three-cushion World Cup tournament in Antalya.

history

The Portuguese doctor Jorge Theriaga celebrated his second World Cup victory in the Turkish seaside resort of Antalya. In the final he prevailed against Belgian Eddy Leppens with 3-1 sets . Since third place will not be played out from this season, there were two third places with Daniel Sánchez and Koen Ceulemans. All German participants, except for Martin Horn, who failed in the qualification, were eliminated in the round of 16.

The exact price money could not be determined from the documents.

Tournament mode

In the group qualification round, two sets of 15 points each are played in Round Robin . The group winners qualify for the 1/16 finals. There are also 14 seeded players. From the main competition (1/16 finals) onwards, all games are played on three sets of 15 points each in the knockout system . Third place has not been played since the 1996/97 season. This means that there is no match for third place and there are two third-placed players.

In the event of a tie, the following order will be applied:

  1. MP = match points
  2. SV = rate ratio
  3. GD = general average
  4. HS = maximum series
