The three- cushion world cup 2015/3 was the third UMB / ACBC world cup tournament in the 29th year of the three-cushion world cup. It took place from August 10 to 16, 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City , Vietnam . It was the first World Cup tournament in Vietnam.

history

For the first time in the 87-year history in which three-band tournaments are held worldwide, a tournament was held in Vietnam. All the actors and functionaries involved were enthusiastic about the great atmosphere in Ho Chi Minh City, the former Saigon. The players thanked it with extremely good performances at this tournament. In the knockout round, a new record was set in the 31 games played with an average of 1.776 . In Vietnam, 17 Asian players were among the last 32 participants for the first time. With Dick Jaspers , for the first time in the history of the World Cup, a player with an average of over three was eliminated from the competition. A total of eight players played an average of over two. Record World Cup winner Torbjörn Blomdahl and Turk Tayfun Taşdemir contested the final . Taşdemir, who defeated Daniel Sánchez in just ten shots in a class match in the quarterfinals , had only an hour break before his final game. Nevertheless, he won the final relatively safely with 40:34 in 17 shots. It was his first World Cup victory.

Tournament mode

A lot has changed in the tournament mode since 2013. The rate system was abolished because the match time could not be calculated. Matches could last between three and five sets. Good timing was therefore not possible. The game distances were set at 30 points in the pre-qualifying rounds and 40 points in the main qualification and in the knockout games. A tie is possible in the qualifying rounds. In the knockout round, overtime is played in the event of a tie. Each of the two players starts with the initial push. Whoever scores more points wins the match. If there is also a tie in extra time, the kick starts again until a winner is determined. The shot clock was set to 40 seconds wildcards, there are only two for the host and one each for three of the four associations CPB , ACBC , CEB and ACC in which the World Cup does not take place.

Four qualifying rounds are played. From the last qualifying round, the 12 group winners and the three best runners-up qualify for the final round. The main tournament is played with 32 participants.

In the event of a tie, the following order will be applied:

  1. MP = match points
  2. GD = general average
  3. HS = maximum series

Seeded players and wild cards

The first 12 players in the world rankings and the wildcard players automatically took part as players in the tournament in the knockout round. The first four of the world rankings are placed in positions 1, 16, 8 and 9.
