The three- cushion world cup 1994/1 was the 6th and last world cup tournament in the eighth year of the three-cushion world cup. It took place from 6 to 9 January 1994 in this discipline of carom billiards in Ghent , Belgium . The three-cushion World Cup was still part of the 1993 tournament series.
In the last World Cup tournament in 1993, which was not held until the beginning of January 1994 for scheduling reasons, the points to be awarded were again increased by 50%. Had that not been the case, Torbjörn Blomdahl would have won the overall World Cup for the fourth time. But with his opening defeat against his Dutch club mate Raimond Burgman and the victory of Raymond Ceulemans against the young Spanish star Daniel Sánchez , the Belgian was now the big favorite for the title. But Ceulemans lost to his young compatriot Frédéric Caudron in the quarterfinals and now had to hope that Sang Chun Lee would not win the tournament. But the native Korean, who lives in New York, showed his class and won the overall World Cup in 1993 with his fourth World Cup victory.
The exact price money could not be determined from the documents. However, as in all BWA World Cup tournaments, it was at least 100,000 DM.
The World Cup tournament was played as an open tournament again. From a pre-qualification with 96 participants, 12 participants qualified for the 1/16 finals. The main tournament was played with 28 participants. The first four of the world rankings were set for the second round. The players qualified in Spa must take part in the pre-qualification. The whole tournament, with the exception of the small final, was played in the knockout system with three sets of 15 points each.

The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the " Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer. From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
