The three- cushion world cup 2006/3 was the third UMB / CEB world cup tournament in the 20th year of the three-cushion world cup. The tournament took place from June 11th to 18th, 2006 in this discipline of carom billiards in Volos . It was the first three-cushion World Cup tournament in Volos.
history
Another world cup tournament started with surprises. It caught two seeded players in the first main round, Frédéric Caudron and Semih Saygıner . The first round was different for Torbjörn Blomdahl . After he was eliminated in the first round of the last two World Cup tournaments, this time he started with the best game of the World Cup year so far. When he won the set 3-0 with 15: 1, 15: 7 and 15: 3, Tonny Carlsen didn't have the slightest chance of winning. Blomdahl played safely through to the final against Roland Forthomme . Here he was defeated by 0: 3 sets. With this, the Belgian secured his second World Cup victory.

^ Heinrich Weingartner: Billiards . No. 185 . Vienna June 2006, p. 12-17 .
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the "
Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association
Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer.
From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
