Eddy Frans Jozefina Merckx (born September 4, 1968 in Rumst ) is a professional Belgian carom (billiards) player and multiple world and European three-cushion champion .

Career

Early years

In 2006 he won the three-cushion world championship in St. Wendel with a 3-1 final victory over the Greek Nikos Polychronopoulos . In 2007 the European Championship title in the same discipline against defending champion Frédéric Caudron followed in the French Salon de Provence . At the three-cushion world championship for national teams in 2009 he reached the final together with partner Roland Forthomme , in which, however, Sweden was defeated. In 2012, he won the title alongside Caudron for the first time in Belgium, with hosts Germany defeated 2-0 in the final.

2011/12 season

On October 8, 2011, Merckx set an unofficial world record when he scored his Bundesliga game for BSG Duisburg against Won Kang to 50 points in just 6 shots (4-9-26-7-0-4), ie with a GD of 8.33 ( highest series 26).

2012/13 season

From August 27 to September 1, 2012, the fifth invitation tournament Cuvino Superprestige took place in Lommel, Belgium , in which the 16 best Belgian players are looking for their three- cushion champion.
