The three-cushion world championship for national teams 2013 is the 27th edition of this tournament, which has been held annually since 1981 in the three- cushion version of billiards . It took place from February 21 to 24, 2013 in Viersen , which has been a permanent World Cup venue since 1990.

Game mode

Usually the tournament is played with 24 teams. However, if fewer teams report, B-teams will be admitted according to the following allocation mode:

  1. Title holder (here: Belgium)BelgiumBelgium
  2. Organizing nation (here: Germany)GermanyGermany
  3. Next nation according to world rankings (here: Netherlands)NetherlandsNetherlands

Since January 17, 2013, the game has no longer been played in the sentence system, but on 30 points. As long as there is still a possible draw in the match, the game will be played with a kick during the entire tournament . Then the first pairing to end the game plays an extension of up to 10 points. No 3rd place has been played since 2004. There are 2 bronze medals. The time limit per push is 40 seconds. A time-out of 40 seconds is possible per game. The ranking is determined as follows:

  1. Match point ( MP )
  2. Game points ( PP )
  3. Team General Average (MGD)

Group stage

The German second team started cautiously in their first games. The Dortmund Markus Dömer was on a tight conceivable 30:29 against the Vietnamese Ngo Dinh Nai win his game, Ronny Lindemann from Witten started very bad, was after 20 shots with 7:22 to Nguyen Quoc Nguyen rear, a series of 13 balls didn't change anything. In the end he lost to the Vietnamese with 27:30. The two Austrians Arnim Kahofer and Andreas Efler won their first two games against Ecuador . In a strong game, the Venezuelan Miguel Canton defeated his Portuguese opponent in just 17 shots with 30:14. Canton finished his first game with a series of 9. After the set tournament was abolished, Dick Jaspers was able to set a new tournament record with a maximum series (HS) of 22 ( BED 4,285). The Ecuadorians, who clearly defeated title favorites Sweden 2-0, caused a surprise. The Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl was able to vent the frustration of the lost morning game in his evening game against Andreas Efler and had his first match point after only 6 shots. However, he needed two more attempts to win the game. Elfer had no problems winning against Swedish champion Michael Nilsson, who was struggling with back pain. However, this draw was not enough for the Swedes. As the bottom of the group, the series winners were eliminated from the tournament prematurely from 2005 to 2009. The German A-team with Martin Horn and Christian Rudolph had no problems making it into the quarter-finals of the finals in their last game against Switzerland. Horn won with a series of 9 in only nine shots (30: 9; GD 3.750) safely, Rudolph needed 34 shots in a defensive game and pressed by the cameras of the WDR to defeat his Swiss opponent. In the last game in Group A, Belgian Eddy Merckx gave his Colombian opponent Julian Morales a lesson in carom and knocked him off the table with 30: 1 in 8 shots. Merckx team-mate Frédéric Caudron had it much more difficult and narrowly escaped defeat. In the end he won just under 30:29 in 20. The last nation was the Koreans Kim Kyung-roul with 12 and Heo Jung-han with 16 entries safely into the final round.

Final round

In the first two games of the quarter-finals, Germany 1 defeated the Austrians 2-0. Martin Horn stormed forward quickly in his game against Andreas Elfer and outclassed him with 40:14 in 16 shots. In the other game, Rudolph was initially leading, but his opponent advanced, overtook Rudolph and increased his lead by one or two points per shot. The game was canceled at 19:27, because Rudolph's 19 points were enough to send the Austrians home. The Belgians' games against the Dutch were not so clear. In both games, the opponents fought head-to-head. It was not the first time that Caudron had teething problems at this World Cup. If he was behind at 15:21 until the break, he was able to gain afterwards, in the 28th recording it was 34:34, in the 31st the Belgian had match point, but Burgman had a follow-up and forced a draw. Jaspers was ahead of the game against Merckx up to the score of 38:31, but the Belgian managed a 6-shot and in the following shot a " fox " with a 3-shot. That put the Dutch out of the running. In the final there was a new edition of last year's final, defending champion Belgium against runner-up world champions Germany. And again the Belgians were able to win by a narrow margin. After Caudron beat Rudolph with 40:30 in his match, the game Horn / Merckx was canceled at 32:31 because the Belgians could no longer be caught by the Germans.
