The three-cushion world championship for national teams in 2016 is the 30th edition of this tournament, which has been held annually since 1981 in the three- cushion discipline of the billiard variant of carom . It will take place from February 18 to 21, 2016 in the city of Viersen , which has been a permanent World Cup venue since 1990.
Game mode
Usually the tournament is played with 24 teams. However, if fewer teams report, B-teams will be admitted according to the following allocation mode:
Title holder (here: Belgium)Belgium
Organizing nation (here: Germany)Germany
Next nation according to world rankings (here: Turkey)Turkey
There are some changes in the game mode. No more matches will be abandoned once the winner has been determined. All games are played to the end.
Since 2013, the sentence system has not been used any more, but 40 points. A tie is possible in the group stage. It is played with a push . From the knockout round there is an extension in the scotch doubles system in the event of a tie . All four players play in alternating mode up to 15 points. The first team to reach 15 points wins the match. There is no follow-up.
Third place has not been played out since 2004. There are two bronze medals. The time limit is 40 seconds per shot. Two extensions of 40 seconds each are possible per game . The players both remain at the table during the scotch double. You can consult with every push. The 40 seconds rule must not be exceeded.
The ranking is determined as follows:
Matchpoints ( MP )
Game points ( PP )
Team General Average (MGD)
