The three-cushion world championship for national teams in 1981 was the first edition of this tournament that was played in the three- cushion version of billiards . The tournament took place in Mexico City from June 12-14, 1981 .
Game mode
6 teams took part in the tournament. One team plus the host per continent. Since Africa (Egypt) had not registered a team, a second team from Europe took part. Each team consisted of two players. A double round was played everyone against everyone. In the matches, everyone from each team played against everyone. The game distance was 30 points.
The winner was Japan. Otherwise the results are very incomplete. There are no match reports from the individual matches. In the official results of the UMB, only one end table was printed.
