The three-cushion world championship for national teams in 1985 was the second edition of this tournament that was played in the three- cushion billiard variant . It took place from September 4th to 8th 1985 in Bordeaux . The World Cup took place irregularly until 1990, after that annually.

Game mode

Again 6 teams took part in the tournament. One team plus the host per continent. Each team consisted of two players. In the basic round (group A) everyone played against everyone. In the matches, everyone from each team played against everyone. After the basic round, the first three of the table (group B) played for the medals. The last three played for the placements (group C). The game distance was 30 points.

In the event of a tie, the following shall apply:

  1. Match points ( MP )
  2. Game points ( PP )
  3. Team General Average (MGD)

Record hunt

The winner was the team from Japan. Sixto Jáuregui from Peru set the official world record of 15 points in the highest series (HS) set by the Argentine Marcelo H. Lopez at the three-cushion world championship in 1964 in Ostend, Belgium , which was then improved by one point to 16 by Japan. The Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl improved this record again by one point to the new record of 17 points.
