Sameh Kamel Sidhom (born March 15, 1987 in Cairo , Egypt ) is an Egyptian three-cushion player and bronze medalist of the 2019 three-cushion world championship and the 2005 world junior championship.

Career

Sidhom is one of the most successful Egyptian carambola players in Egypt since Edmond Soussa , even if he does not share his successes yet. Sidhom began his international career, at that time still part of the European association CEB , in 2003 when he took part in the three-cushion junior world championship in which he only finished 11th. Two years later he won the bronze medal at the next World Cup, which at that time was held every two years. Since 2010 he has represented his country at the three- cushion world championships for national teams together with Ihab El Messerey . In 2012 he was among the 12 best at the three-cushion world championship in Porto for the first time . Since 2005 he has been taking part in the World Cup regularly and since 2015 he has been among the "best 16". In 2014 and 2015 he reached seventh place (out of 96!) At the Verhoeven Open . He achieved his biggest single success so far at the World Games 2017 where he beat the multiple Dutch world champion Dick Jaspers in the game for third place with 40:26 in Wroclaw . At the three-cushion world championship in 2015 in Bordeaux, he improved the highest series world record at world championships, held by Pedro Piedrabuena from the United States at the age of 18 , by one point to 19.

At the 2019 World Cup in Randers , Denmark , he won the bronze medal, the first medal for Egypt in 83 years. The last medal winner before him was the two-time world champion Edmond Soussa in New York in 1936, also with bronze.
