The Lausanne Billard Masters 2013 was a billiards tournament in the three cushion discipline . It took place for the first time and was held from March 15th to 17th, 2013 in Lausanne , Switzerland.

description

General

It is an invitation tournament that was approved in 2011 by the World Carom Association ( UMB ). The four first placed in the world rankings, two players from the top 12 and two Swiss players were invited. Similar to the AGIPI Billard Masters, there is no fixed prize money, but basic money that can be increased through various bonuses. The game was played on 40  points , in the group stage with a push-button , in the final round without a push-button . The organizer had acquired the broadcasting rights for the games on Sunday (final and third place match) and had it broadcast live free of charge on the Internet TV station Kozoom .

comment

The Belgian world number two Frédéric Caudron had no major problems with his Swiss opponent Michel Boulaz. He won the game 40:18 in 24  shots . The Italian Marco Zanetti was able to prevail against the third place French Jérémy Bury in 30 shots with 40:35. In Group B, Dick Jaspers from the Netherlands quickly took the lead against Martin Horn from Essen . At the break he was 20: 8 ahead. After the break, Horn caught up and came within 2 points, while Jaspers almost didn't want to hit a shot. However, he managed to recover and pulled away in the 18th shot with 38:25. In the following shot he didn't get a point, but in the 20th he scored the missing two points and was the first to secure a bonus for the “ best game ”. In the follow-up, Horn was only able to score 3 of the 15 points required for a draw. World number one Torbjörn Blomdahl from Sweden, like Caudron, had no major problems with Swiss René Hendriksen and won in 24 shots with 40:22. In the second group game, against Zanetti, Caudron literally shot forward. In the first recording he played a series of 8, Zanetti 0, in the second a series of 12, so that it would actually have come to half-time. The referee asked if the players really wanted to take the break after 1.5 shots. Both denied and Zanetti finally came into play with 3 points in his 2nd recording. Two shots later Caudron was already 24: 5 ahead. In shot number 7, Caudron followed up with a series of 6 so that he was now leading 30: 7. Zanetti added 5 and shortened to 30:12. Caudron took his break and had the balls cleaned. At the next table, Boulaz and Bury took it slower: there it was 13:15 in 14 recordings at the same time. After the break, Caudron played 7 more shots with 3, 0, 1, 0, 5, 0 points before he had match point in the 14th shot. Zanetti got 6 points to the final score of 40:30. Caudron was the second player to receive a “Best Game” bonus.

The semifinals were now called Caudron / Jaspers and Blomdahl / Zanetti. While the Belgian played his way to the final against his Dutch rivals with 40:28 in 25 shots, the Swedish world number one Blomdahl had to admit defeat to the Italian gentleman with 32:40 in 15 shots. Zanetti played the highest series of the tournament with 15 points and the second best game (best game) of the tournament.

After losing their first game in the group stage, the Italian faced Frédéric Caudron again in the final. Zanetti could now return the favor for this defeat. From the beginning he dominated the game against the number 2 in the world rankings. In the 15th shot he succeeded in a 12-series, then 5 and in the last shot the missing point to win the match with a fox to the 40:33 final score.
